Grandpa Chat--2/1/1915-12/6/2012

1 year ago today, we lost our beloved Grandpa Chat (Great Grandpa Chat for me and Great Great Grandpa Chat for even more of us).

He was a man who wrote memoirs that aren't for politically correct or young readers.

He was a man who would dance in the kitchen with my sister, the occupational therapist, and then argue with her about the proper way to get in and out of a recliner.

He was a man who liked his coffee hot and his Cheerios plentiful--because that's how Beyonce eats breakfast.

But most importantly, he was a man who demanded his headstone would read "Remember me at my best."

Grandpa, there is no other way to remember you.

Cheers to you, Grandpa Chat.

  5. Thank you Taryn. Grandpa had so many "bests" there is no other way to remember him that at his best. We were just talking about him over dinner last night. Remembering his Christmas outfit: white polyester suit tailored into shorts, no shirt under the jacket, black bow tie, and a Santa hat. We were blessed to be able to share our lives with such a wonderful man.
